This is a presentation I made at the British Embassy here in Stockholm back in May. It was sponsored by the Association Ex Service Men and Women in Sweden (abcsws for short, check them out at www.abcsws.se) which has been around since 1937 providing a forum for ex members of the forces to meet up every now and again.

We raised £100 for SAMA82 which was a nice side benefit.

We also had a live linkup with Mike Cole who was in the Falklands doing a yomp for charity following the same route he took in 1982.

Hi Steve, was listening to your talk about Tumbledown and noticed you said in the initial contact 2 Scots guardsmen were killed. Im guessing you mean John Simeon and Ronald Tanbini. Have we forgot Archie Stirling, pretty sure he was killing at first exchange as he was my number 2 on my gimpy. Cheers Pasty

Hi Steve
Excellent blog. I was on HMS Intrepid in 82, similar story to yours, first time at sea only been in twelve months. A young 18 year old who wanted to see the world and saw to much too soon. Like so many I think about it every day.
Great presentation.....thanks

Kirbylover could you please send me just a quick email so that I have your email details? I am a cousin of Archie Stirling and our family never really got any info on what happened to him? Thanx in advance...
